The Lonach Highlanders and Pipe Band come from Strathdon in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. In August 2015 they marched over Poldhullie Bridge to mark 300 years since its construction by John Forbes of Inverernan. In the following month of September the Highlanders made the gruelling march over the hills to Braemar to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the Braemar Gathering.

The beautiful, tranquil and isolated Glen Strathfarrar is in the Highlands of Scotland north of the Great Glen. Loch Monar which was damned in the 1950's as part of the Affric-Beauly electric power scheme is situated at the head (western end) of the glen. I was lucky enough to live and work at Pait Estate on the south western shore of Loch Monar for a number of seasons and, presented here are a selection of images from that time.
